Legacy of Hospitality: Hotel Raindrops, Kodaikanal
Hotel Raindrops, A Heritage Haven in Kodaikanal
Our Story
November 4, 1937, marked the beginning of our journey when Mr. T.Rajagopala Iyengar's son, Mr Ranganathan, acquired the land from Mrs. Mary Stuart MacPhail, James Gordon, and Stewart MacPhail of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Early Beginnings
Mr Ranganathan pioneered the property with a petrol pump, followed by "RR Home," one of Kodaikanal's first hotels. At the time, fewer than five hotels existed in the town.
Evolution and Expansion
In 1999, Mr Nandakumar, the third-generation owner, transformed the hotel, introducing RR Residency and RR Restaurant.
Preserving Heritage, Embracing Modernity
Under the visionary leadership of fourth-generation Mr Sudarsanam, RR Residency underwent a meticulous renovation from 2016 to 2019. This four-year transformation seamlessly blended heritage charm with modern amenities, culminating in the grand reopening of Hotel Raindrops in 2019
Dining Excellence
Attached to our hotel is the renowned "Cream Centre," one of India's finest fine-dining vegetarian restaurants.
